Wood is good. The world of Wesley Spears has always been full of items that nail, glue or weld together. It’s just the way that God made his gifts to be seen.

At a young age he worked with his dad doing construction, building hot rods in his garage, and being a happy kid with many dreams. Little did he know that many of them would come true with a lot of hard work and hard knocks.

After high school he spent a tour in the Army, watching the world from tree top level as a gunner in Vietnam. Something that’s changed many a boy to a man. After a few years of roaming around trying to find out what life was really about he went to college for 2 years. Upon finding out again that book learning was not his thing he got married moved to Colorado and started running a framing crew. This would be the beginning of a career that would give him an extensive education with construction.

Because of his upbringing, his perfectionist personality has helped him to excel in his work. Some of the projects that would come to him would be a three story post and beam home that at that time was the largest post and beam home that the manufacturer had made. He spent 15 years working commercial construction in which he has built shopping centers, banks and etc. Several of the projects that he enjoyed was the Remodeling of Bricks Inc., a high end clothing store in Wichita, KS. His work would go on to have three more projects for the Gordon’s as they moved to larger facilities. Another project was a small remodel for the Wichita Visitors Center in Wichita that allowed him to do a larger art piece out of metal.

In 1999 he moved to Florida which allowed him time to spend 6 years working strictly in the furniture arena. During this time the leg system he calls “bent tension system” was perfected and now is the signature for many of his pieces that he’s built. In 2005 he found a home in Marathon, TX. In March 2007 he opened up his own gallery to show his furniture in. His future for his property includes several more artist with shops and residences with him, a Wellness Center and enough time to record a CD of his songs.
